What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser. It lets the site remember you between pages and visits. Pixels, tags and local storage do similar jobs. We call all of them “cookies” on this page.
Two kinds of cookies
Essential cookies keep the site working. They protect forms from spam, keep your session open, and remember your cookie choice. They are always on. You cannot turn them off, and we do not need your permission to use them.
Optional cookies help us understand visitors and measure advertising. They are split into Analytics and Marketing. You decide whether these run.
How we ask you
It depends on where you are.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. Optional cookies stay off until you accept them. A banner asks you on your first visit. You can accept all, reject all, or pick categories. Until you choose, Google’s tags run without storing anything on your device.
Everywhere else. Optional cookies are on from your first visit. A short notice tells you this. You can turn either category off at any time. Open Cookie Preferences in the footer.
We respect the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends it, Marketing cookies stay off.
Your choice is saved in a cookie called bv_consent. It lasts 12 months. After that we ask again.

How to change your choice
- Scroll to the footer and click Cookie Preferences.
- Tick or untick Analytics and Marketing.
- Click Save my choices.
Your new choice applies straight away.
Blocking cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge each explain how in their help pages. If you block essential cookies, some parts of the site will stop working.
