For a materials testing laboratory we made manufacturer lot numbers scanned and validated, with unique identifiers assigned automatically, so tracking stopped depending on a retyped label.
Supplier invoices read, not typed
Odoo digitizes supplier invoices into draft bills with vendor, dates, taxes and lines populated, then routes them for approval. Your team checks exceptions only.
Counting that stops being manual
A ceramic color and chemical manufacturer processed most of its inventory by hand. We automated that inside Odoo and removed the errors that came with it.
Buying against consumption, not memory
Forecasted stock, reordering rules and supplier lead times are configured together, so the replenishment report proposes what to buy before a batch waits.

What does Odoo actually give you against a GxP requirement?
Odoo is not a validated GxP system, and no software is. 21 CFR Part 11, GMP and GAMP 5 apply to a validated implementation and its procedures, not to a product. Odoo gives you mechanisms; validation stays with your quality unit.

Is Odoo 21 CFR Part 11 compliant?
No, and no software is on its own. Part 11 applies to the records and signatures a regulated company keeps, in a validated system under its own procedures. Odoo gives you lot traceability, quality checks, access rights per role and hashed accounting entries. Validation stays with you.
Can Odoo trace a batch from raw material to shipped product?
Yes. Lot numbers identify a batch through receipt, storage, manufacture and delivery, and the Traceability smart button on the lot form opens the full stock-moves report: where it came from, when it arrived, where it was stored and who it went to.
How does Odoo handle expiry dates and short-dated stock?
Expiry lives on the lot. Per product you set an Expiration Time, Best Before Time, Removal Time and Alert Time, and Odoo computes the dates from receipt. FEFO removal then reserves the lot with the nearest removal date first, so earliest-expiry material leaves first.
Can Odoo record quality control checks?
Yes. Quality control points create checks automatically for chosen operations and products, controlled per operation, per product or on a percentage of quantity, and requested every time, randomly or periodically. Types include Pass-Fail, Measure, Worksheet and Take a Picture. Failures become quality alerts.
Does Odoo give us an audit trail?
A change log, not a validated audit trail. The chatter records changes and time stamps on almost every record, and posted accounting entries can be secured with a SHA-256 hash chained to the previous entry, which the data inalterability report verifies. Whether that is enough is your quality unit to judge.
Can Odoo handle material bought and sold in different units?
Yes. Units of measure inside one category convert automatically, so a product can be bought in drums, issued in kilograms and sold in liters against a single stock figure. We are configuring that for a wood coatings supplier moving off Datacor onto Odoo 17 Enterprise.
Will Odoo replace our LIMS?
Sometimes. For a materials testing laboratory we customized Odoo to cover the testing workflow: lot numbers scanned and validated, a customer testing portal, subcontracted tests kept separate, and COA approval with QA e-signatures. Whether that replaces a validated LIMS is your quality unit's decision.
Can we move off SAP Business One or Datacor?
Yes, and both are live engagements. Brainvire is migrating a pharmacy firm from SAP Business One to Odoo across accounting, sales, purchase, inventory, customer and vendor data, and is moving a wood coatings supplier off Datacor onto Odoo 17 Enterprise with WooCommerce.
