Odoo 19: what is new, what it costs to move, and when to upgrade
Odoo released Odoo 19 in September 2025. This page sets out what Odoo actually changed, what makes an upgrade bigger or smaller, and how long each version is supported — every claim traced to Odoo’s own release notes and documentation, with the version it applies to named.
The major version Odoo released in September 2025. Its headline addition is an AI application — configurable agents, AI fields and an Ask AI assistant — alongside changes across Accounting, Inventory, Manufacturing, Payroll, Point of Sale and Studio, all listed in the Odoo 19 release notes.
Every major version gets three years of standard support. Odoo’s standard and extended support table lists standard support ending September 2026 for 17.0, September 2027 for 18.0 and September 2028 for 19.0, each marked planned. Your deadline depends on the version you run and where it is hosted.
A version upgrade runs 3 to 8 weeks. A fresh small implementation runs 8 to 12 weeks, mid-market 12 to 24 weeks, and multi-entity enterprise rollouts 6 to 12 months. Those are Brainvire’s planning figures, not Odoo’s.

Odoo lists Odoo 19.0 with a release date of September 2025 on Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and on-premise. The release notes carry the same month.
Three years of standard support
Standard support means helpdesk support, bug fixing and security updates. Odoo lists the end of standard support for Odoo 19.0 as September 2028, marked planned, with extended support beyond that subject to a mandatory additional fee.
An AI application, not an AI button
The largest single addition is AI: agents configured from topics and sources, AI fields, and natural-language search. Accounting, Inventory, Manufacturing, Payroll and Studio changed too.
Online releases every two to three months
Between major versions Odoo ships intermediary online releases such as 19.1 and 19.2. It states these run on Odoo Online only and get no extended support.

What does Odoo 19 AI actually do?
Ask AI answers from the command palette (Ctrl + K) or the AI button in the top bar: it takes natural language, opens views and improves content. Four things Odoo documents about how it works are below, sourced to Odoo’s AI documentation for 19.0, its API key page and its agent reference. Odoo’s documentation root now serves 19.0 by default, so a page naming no version is describing 19.

Should you upgrade to Odoo 19 now, or wait?
Six questions, answered from what Odoo publishes rather than from opinion. Dates come from Odoo’s standard and extended support table and obligations from its upgrade documentation, which states a different rule per hosting type. Odoo marks future end dates as planned, and so do we.

Move now if you are on Odoo 17, or your customization surface is light enough that two versions land in one test cycle. Plan it for later if you are mid-rollout on 18 with substantial custom modules. What does it cost to move to Odoo 19?
Six things drive it, and none of them is the version number: how many custom modules you carry, how many versions you are jumping, where the database is hosted, how many integrations have to be re-tested, how many entities and fiscal localizations are in scope, and how many sites have to accept the result. A database on Odoo 18 with Studio-only configuration is a different job from a multi-entity Odoo 15 on-premise install with custom code.
We publish no figures here. Odoo sets its own subscription terms and an upgrade is quoted against the scope above, so a number printed on a page like this would be wrong by the time you read it. Have we moved Odoo databases across major versions?
Yes, with one honest limit: we claim no delivered Odoo 19 upgrade here, because no case study reports a database moved onto 19 yet. What we can show is three databases carried across major versions with their customizations intact, which is the same work. All of it is optional, so start with one workflow.
