A Multi-Website Magento Portal Simplifies Subscription Management for a US-based Publisher

02 November, 2020 Dallas, USA

The client is a renowned publication house based in Nebraska, USA. Since 1997, they have expanded further to different states. The magazine house has remote staff in Norfolk, Nebraska, and Estes Park, Colorado. They focus on entertaining stories and photography in the respective states to provide a good reading experience for subscribers. They also provide special editions, books, and a variety of travel guides to promote the states.

Earlier the client was managing subscriptions for different magazines and publications offline. They approached Brainvire to seek their expertise in eCommerce development services for developing an ecommerce website for their brand to sell different subscriptions and take their business online. Brainvire took heed of the client’s requirements and created a Magento ecommerce website in the latest Magento 2.3.x Community Version. The purpose of the Magento site is to merge different websites of the client under one umbrella making future updates and overall maintenance easy.

Although the project was not without its challenges, Brainvire’s team faced difficulty in managing misconfigured shipping rules for gift recipients. Our team mapped the logic from the older website and implemented shipping charges per quantity, per item, and per address.

Another obstacle was designing uniform layout pages for articles since the older website had multiple layouts for different articles. Brainvire’s design team created a whole new module in Magento for articles and a custom product option. Instead of separate entities, the articles were considered as regular products as a subpart of the magazine.

Since the website has a gift feature, our team implemented a multi-checkout process instead of a standard one-step checkout.

“Managing different products with separate websites can be a tedious task. In the digital world, taking your business online is the way to go. The unified Magento platform will enable our client to ease subscriptions management and cater to a larger audience,” said Mr. Chintan Shah, CEO of Brainvire Infotech.

Some of the notable features of the Magento development services platform are default Magento functions like custom search and module. The magazine and stationery website supports the English language. It has a customized guest checkout process too. To make online payments easy and secure, Brainvire integrated the Stripe payment gateway.
