The client runs one of the largest US online coupon portals, with more than 158,000 offers across over 50,000 stores built up across 12 years. Brainvire customized the CodeIgniter application, fixed the bugs that slowed the flow, tuned a database large enough that one table alone held over 12 GB, redesigned every page around new policies, and added a writer-account module.

The client runs the largest online coupon platform in the US, offering coupon codes for internet retail stores and printable coupons for physical stores. What began 12 years ago as a small go-between for consumers and providers now carries more than 158,000 offers across over 50,000 stores.
To handle the heavy flow of offers and connected stores and lift performance at scale, the client asked Brainvire to customize and enhance the site. The team worked through a large body of undocumented CodeIgniter code, tuned the database, redesigned the pages, and added the features the growing portal needed.

Undocumented CodeIgniter code
The existing module was built in CodeIgniter by another firm and was not documented, so even the smallest change took hours. We read through the code carefully and fixed the bugs that were blocking a smoother flow before extending it.
A database measured in gigabytes
The site held user, offer, and store data in a database so large that one table alone passed 12 GB, which made queries slow. We restructured and tuned it so results come back quickly even as millions of users hit the portal at once.
Redesigning every page
The policies had barely changed since the portal launched, and the client wanted every page redesigned to carry new strategies. We rebuilt the pages around the new policies and gave the design the pull to hold user attention.
A module for writer accounts
The client asked for a way to keep posted offers clean and readable. We built a writer-account module so the administrator can create writer accounts that refine user-posted content into precise, language-rich offers.
