About

The client is a trusted health informatics software company with 30+ years of wide health industry experience. The client owns a Telehealth platform with a range of products in the direction of improving patient health and overall operational proficiency of healthcare systems. Excellent patient care coordination solutions are widely used in Hospitals, Doctors’ clinics, Nursing Care agencies, and Skilled Nursing Facilities.

Project Highlights

The product is an iOS based mobile application delivering outstanding patient care communication with all the essential features incorporated. The client has an Android based application but wanted to enter in the area of iOS. The mobile application is equipped with features such as a dashboard showcasing all the vital status of patient’s health, doctor’s recommendations and current medication details, doctors’ contacts with availability status, video calling functionalities, the details received from medical devices, timely reminders of medication, personalized app settings, and much more.

The Challenges

  • Integration and synchronization between Apple HealthKit mobile app and Bluetooth based health monitoring hardware devices
The client was using third party Bluetooth based health monitoring devices such as blood sugar checker, blood pressure checker, heart bit monitor etc. The challenge was to create a set up between Bluetooth commands of devices and iOS Bluetooth patterns. To understand and to implement it was a crucial part. At the same time, the app has to be in sync with inbuilt iOS app- HealthKit and send the data to the server at regular intervals.
  • Responding to a notification without evoking the application
The client asked for an application containing the process that offers responses from the notifications only. The actions to be performed on the notification should reside in notification only.
  • Online presence status via socket based web services and seamless video calling experience
The online status should be changed once the doctor is logged in the application or vice versa, and it should reflect in the patient’s mobile application. Further, if the doctor is available online, the patient should be able to initiate a video call request and the whole experience of video calling must be a smooth and fruitful experience for both.
  • Exposure to new language
The developer team decided to go for Swift technology because of its adamant features, but the language was released in the market just 6 months ago. The relevant help and experience of the Swift language were not adequate with the team.
