KEC International

KEC International is a team of more than 6000 diverse professionals across the globe and India's second-largest manufacturer of electric power transmission towers. Headquartered in Mumbai and part of the RPG Group, it runs EPC works for power transmission, distribution, railways, cables, solar, civil, and smart infrastructure across the SAARC, EAP, Africa, Middle East, and the Americas.

To advance its long-term objectives, the client worked with Brainvire as a Microsoft Gold Partner on a SharePoint intranet portal. A gap analysis showed its needs were not fully met, so the team used SharePoint to lift employee collaboration, centralize communication, and keep essential staff information current, accurate, accessible, and searchable.

Document-driven processes needed centralized management and fast approval, so the team built four custom single-approver workflows in Power Automate with automated notifications and read-only locks on sign-off.

Keywords and tags

Complex navigation made documents hard to find, so the team leveraged the SharePoint search engine and a custom search that finds content by keywords and tags across the intranet and corporate resources.

Power BI embedded

The old system had no custom reporting, so the team pulled data from a SharePoint library into Power BI and embedded the reports in the portal for real-time, configurable views.

One connected intranet

Interaction between offices and departments was poor, so the team implemented a SharePoint environment with a global intranet site and sub-sites built from out-of-the-box and custom web parts.

Fast document approval

To streamline document-driven processes, the client needed centralized document management and fast approval. The team created four custom single-approver workflows in Power Automate that name an approver, raise automated approval or rejection notices, and set the signed document to read-only, plus a reusable template for typical document workflows.

Complex navigation

Complex navigation made it hard for users to find the documents they needed. The team leveraged the SharePoint search engine and developed a custom search that finds content quickly by keywords and tags across the intranet and other corporate resources.

Customizable reports

The client's system lacked customized reports, and the goal was real-time data the client could shape to its business needs. The team integrated Power BI in the SharePoint portal, pulled data from a SharePoint library app, and generated list reports the client can customize in several ways.

Communication across the organization

Interaction between separate offices and departments was poor, and internal processes needed optimization. The team investigated the infrastructure, installed and implemented a SharePoint environment, and built a corporate intranet with a global site and numerous sub-sites of predefined functionality.
